OK, so I admit I'm a sucker for cute animals. But if you're looking at this particular coloring book, maybe you are too. I love the style of the illustrations in the Creative Haven series and the artwork by Marjorie Sarnat. Each page is fanciful, whimsical and just plain fun to color. Dazzling Dogs is another great addition to the family.
There are 31 delightful doggies in this book. They are adorned with flowers, paisleys and a nice variety of designs. The images depict different breeds of pooches doing what dogs love to do (or dream of doing), on trips to the beach, enjoying their gardens, playing chess, digging up fossils, riding a turtle and more. Dachshunds at a hot dog stand? Gotta love it.
Each illustration is unique and interesting to color. The detail is moderate - enough to engage you without getting tedious. You won't find repetitive patterns or wallpaper designs here.Wonderfully creative!
Paper quality is good and works well with pencils, pens and markers. The designs are printed one to a page to protect your drawings from bleed-through and pencil pigment transfer. The pages are also perforated, which is always a nice touch. It's a great idea to remove the pages before you start coloring, so you can work on a nice flat surface, without the binding causing problems. That also eliminates any worry about markers that might bleed through.
If you have the slightest appreciation for dogs and/or whimsy, you are sure to find plenty to love in this book. Coloring these pages a wonderful way to relax unwind and make yourself smile.
