If you love butterflies and flowers… Well that’s most of us, right? The author/artist is on volume 7 of this popular series, so that tells you something.
There are 30 designs in this book. The complexity of detail ranges from simple to expert level. Some customers have been disappointed that many drawings are much more basic than the cover design. But the product description does note that there is a range. The color image is included, along with two similarly detailed butterfly and flower combos. Six are of single butterflies and the other include butterflies in various lovely patterns.
The quality of publication has been a bit spotty. Some of the images have been cut off at the edge of the page because they weren’t centered. An earlier edition even misspelled the title. Some of the illustrations look more sketched than clearly delineated with clear dark lines as we generally expect in coloring books.
The book is printed on relatively thin, bright white paper. Markers and even gel pens will bleed through. Although the images are one-to-a-side, you’ll still want to use a sheet of paper behind the page you are working on, to protect the page beneath.
Bottom line is that there are plenty of nice butterflies to color in, and that may make it a worthwhile purchase for you. Just be aware of some quality issues and don’t expect a premiere publication.
