First thing to clarify is that this is a grayscale (or greyscale) coloring book. Many buyers have been disappointed or put off because they were expecting the the more common bold lines delineating white spaces. Grayscale coloring books offer a very different approach. They are meant for colorists who want to create more realistic colored images. Watch the video here for some techniques in how to color grayscale images.
The images are intentionally light, as they are meant to add depth and shadow as you color over the designs, rather than coloring in between the lines. In fact, in this 2nd Ed from Life Escapes, the publishers have lightened up the color while sharpening their clarity. You'll find the designs are detailed and have good texture. There are also some tips for those who are new to the techniques for grayscale coloring. Try some Prismacolor colored pencils & pastels plus some gel pens for fine detail.
There are 50 lovely scenes of rustic country life, in 8 x 10 format. The images are filled with farm animals (plus some wild critters) barns, windmills, tractors, wagons and pastoral landscapes. The scenes are beautiful and relaxing, and you'll love the way they come to life as you color them in. This is a nice book to try if you're new to grayscale coloring. It's a whole different way of doing coloring, and a lot of fun to try. Well done on the 2nd edition!
